Conference “The Challenges of Ethical Leadership: Wisdom from the Protestant Tradition”
October 3, 2019 - October 5, 2019
€495Theme of the Conference
There is a growing recognition of the importance of ethical leadership. We are moving increasingly towards a world that can be characterized as VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous). In addition, organizations are becoming more and more conscious that their goals should be widened; companies recognize the importance of the triple-bottom line (People, Planet and Profit) in their activities. These developments fuel the call for leaders to grow in moral competence, in addition to other leadership skills – a call to responsibility.
This conference will concentrate on the lives and foundational texts of Martin Luther (1483-1546) and from two other well-known leaders and theologians in the Protestant tradition: Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945) and Reinhold Niebuhr (1892-1971), whereby the focus is on training and personal formation.
This conference helps you as a leader to develop your competence in moral responsibility. During these three days you will learn more about ethical leadership on the basis of moral dilemmas from the practice of your work.
You will get acquainted with wisdom from the Protestant tradition and be encouraged to discern important insights for challenges faced today by leaders and to make a connection with your own leadership.
Program
The interactive program is a mixture of plenary lectures and group work. Personal reflection is stimulated via case studies, brought in by the participants. In addition, an excursion will be organized to historic Leuven.
